 산마리노 (San Marino)

 이탈리아 반도의 아드리아 해안 중북부에 있는 공화국.

정식 국호는 산마리노공화국(Republic of San Marino)이고,

38.6㎞의 국경이 이탈리아에 둘러싸여 있는 내륙국으로

면적은 61.19㎢.   인구 2만 2700명

수도인 산마리노 외 북쪽에 약간의 산업권이 형성되어 있고,

밀 등의 농산물을 경작하는 외 관광이 큰 수입원이 되고 있다.

화폐는 이탈리아 리라화(貨)를 사용하지만 독자적으로 우표를 발행한다

산마리노는 1862년 당시 왕국이었던 이탈리아와 우호협력조약을 체결하여

이탈리아 국토 내에서 독립된 공화국을 유지하기로 한이래 오늘에 이르고있다

정부 형태는 내각 책임제를 채택하고 있고, 의회에 해당하는 대평의회는

임기 5년의 정원 60명으로 구성된다.

유엔 가입(1993.3.2.) 외에 유네스코·국제노동기구(ILO)·

만국우편연합(IPU) 등과 같은 국제기구에도 가입하였다.

남·북한 모두 특별한 관계가 없으나,

제24회 서울올림픽대회에는 19명의 선수단이 참가하였다
